By Mark Pereira, Autoblog.com - We couldn't believe our eyes when we found this incredible '62 Corvette at the Barrett-Jackson display at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. The story behind this build isn't so much of a restoration project, its more like a revolutionary concept car built within the silhouette of the legendary C1 'Vette that needed a closer look.
The painstaking attention to detail and elaborate craftsmanship involved easily make this one of the most amazing resto-mod examples we've ever seen in person. This custom car is far from ordinary, as the project quickly took on a very modern life of its own with the team at the Roadster Shop in Mundelein, IL.
With virtually every panel from front to back being re-worked in carbon fibre and custom aluminum panels, the aptly named C1RS (RS stands for Roadster Shop) formed its stunning new shape. This C1 Corvette also proves there's more than meets the eye, armed with a tire-shredding 618 horsepower LS7 crate motor and all the proper running gear to handle that power lurking under its classic hood.
While it's hard to put a price on the passion and dedication behind this award-winning 'Vette, it looks like the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ plans to do just that. We'll soon see what this iconic 1962 Corvette C1RS all adds up to during the week of January 13-20, 2013. One thing we do know, is that something this special won't come cheap.
